Laminated wood flooring is perfect for those areas of the house where solid wood flooring may not be suitable, such as basements, kitchens, powder rooms, and utility rooms. Because the grains run in different directions, it is more dimensionally stable than solid wood. This means that it will expand and contract less than solid wood during fluctuations in humidity and temperature. Over the past few years laminate floors have really started to become popular, especially in homes with children. There are a number of reasons for this. One, laminate flooring is less expensive than traditional hardwood flooring. Two, it is very easy to clean and maintain.
