The royal Victoria Infirmary lighting project

Lighting and colour are particularly important in the build environment. When taking about the hospital environment, how much more important lighting and colour becomes. KSLD were introduced to the Royal Victoria Infirmary project by Anshen + Allen to develop the lighting scheme for the main entrance and atrium late in the design process, after the budget had been fixed. We responded to this challenge by developing a simple linear approach to the lighting, linking the corridor balconies and bridges. The first phase of the project is now open and has succeeded in articulating the inspiring volume that links key elements of the old and new hospital.

The green theme of compound in resort-like atmosphere

Indeed, relaxing, resort-like atmosphere is immediately felt the intrance gate of the compound. The green lawn on one site of the normally scorching and busting main street emulates a refreshing sanctuary in the middle of a desert. Various greeneries and shrubs such as heliconia, frangipani, and palm trees from a neat now as if opening the way for guests and occupants into the compound. A fish pond placed not far from the gate adds to the serenity of the site.
